Skiarea Braunlage (Harz) overview

The ski area on the Wurmberg, at 971 m the highest mountain in Lower Saxony, offers winter sports enthusiasts almost 12 kilometres of varied pistes, 50 percent of which can be covered with snow thanks to 100 snow cannons. Skiing fun is guaranteed for everyone. Beginners and children can make their first turns in the snow on easy terrain around the Hasselkopf ski lift. Experienced skiers, on the other hand, can enjoy the 800 metre-long "Schanzenhang" ski route. The longest piste in the ski area leads from the summit of the Wurmberg over around 4 km down to the valley station. Practical for families: all pistes end at the gondola lift or the Hexenritt lift, so nobody can get lost.

At Wurmberg, the little ones can also switch from boards to sledges or tyres. There is a 1.5 km long toboggan run and a 200 m long snowtubing run.

Night skiing Braunlage (Harz)

For night owls and skiers for whom the usual piste times are too short, the Braunlage Wurmberg ski area also offers the opportunity to ski at night. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the Hexenritt lift is open from 18:00 to 21:00. Under floodlights, winter sports enthusiasts can get on the T-bar lift and then glide down the almost 500 metre-long runs on the Hexenwiese and Walpurgishang slopes. Depending on the snow conditions, night skiing in Braunlage is also possible on other days, but you should pay attention to the announcements on site.

Braunlage (Harz): Après ski

If you're looking for a cold drink and good music after a long day of skiing in Braunlage, you'll also find it here. For example, in the umbrella bar at the valley station of the Hexen-Express or in the "Tenne Schwof & Schmaus Am Blueberry Hill", a former car repair shop that has been converted into a party location. For visitors who want a more relaxed end to the day, the restaurants in the town centre are well worth a stop, where local gourmet specialities from the Harz Mountains are also served.

There are also plenty of sporting activities on offer: These include the snow-covered toboggan run that leads from the middle station of the gondola to the valley station, a tubing area with its own lift at Hexenritt and the extensive network of cross-country ski trails. There are also numerous winter hiking trails that lead through the picturesque forests of the Harz Mountains and the Braunlage ice rink, where you can pirouette on the ice to your heart's content.

The indoor and leisure pool or the Hasseröder holiday park, on the other hand, are much warmer and wetter, where the whole family can have fun in the large adventure pool, the sauna area, bowling or the indoor play world. And Wernigerode Castle, with its originally furnished living quarters, is not far away and is always worth a visit.
