A winter holiday in turns out to be quite the experience when exploring one of the numerous small to medium sized ski areas for both beginners and pros alike. Regardless of its small portion of the Alps, is a huge winter sports nation and even offers a glacier ski area. This is thanks for the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in the country with an altitude of 2,962 m and is the centrepiece of the Bavarian Alps. Garmisch-Partenkirchen was also the venue for the 1936 Olympics. Together with Oberstdorf, the ski area is known for its numerous World Cup runs and the Four Hills Tournament and therefore presents itself as a ski destination with many highlights. Not just the Alps, but also the German Lowland Mountains offer plenty of space for many smaller ski areas, of which are especially recommended for beginners and families, but can also be used as the perfect starting point by intermediate and pro skiers alike for an ideal winter holiday.
