Cross-country areas in the ski nation Slovenia

Cross-country skiers will find their trails in practically every winter sport region in Slovenia. The individual cross-country areas may not be huge, but this makes them less overrun; the surrounding nature is also fantastic. Access to the cross-country trails can be found in nearly every ski centre and nearby the bigger holiday resorts. The well-known ski area Kranjska Gora has approx. 40 km of trails that are prepared on a regular basis. The trails lead through Zgornjesavska- and Tamar valley.

One of the best known cross country spots is the biathlos centre Pokljuka in the spa resort Bled at the Eastern foothill of Triglav mountains. Approximately 70 km north of the capital Ljubljana there is also the Solčava region which offers a 13 km round course through the untouched valley of Logarska dolina.

The trails in the Slovenian mountains sometimes lead over scenic clearings, sometimes through magically snowy forests, or over hills with a free view of the mountaintops. Cross-country skiing in Slovenias mountain landscapes will be a pleasure for beginners and advanced Nordic skiers. Apart from that most of the trails can be used for free.
