On the Alpe di Siusi lies the Dolomiti Nordicski, which is a real cross-country paradise. The highest located high-alpine alp in Europe is a real hotspot for cross-country skiing fans, thanks to its geographical location, lots of snowfall in winter, up to 300 days of sunshine per year, and of course because of its great selection of trails. 80 km of tracks with varying difficulties and wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding peaks of the Dolomites stretch from Siusi allo Sciliar via Compatsch right up to Monte Pana. When you have reached the latter, there is a connection trails which leads on to Val Gardena. The longest trail on the plateau has 15 km to offer and is called Joch trail, however there are also shorter tracks and practice trails available for beginners. Various Nordic ski centres provide lessons and equipment hire, and along the trails there are numerous cosy huts for stops and breaks. A real event highlight on the alp is the Moonlight Classic, a public race under the light of the moon. No matter which type of cross-country skier you are, on the Alpe di Siusi you will surely find the right trails to suit you!
